Driving in 5th gear doing 45mph yesterday and suddenly on dash comes car with red flashing all around, car judders, seems to brake definitely slows down and my bp must have gone through the roof! I couldn't stop straight away but did when it was safe. Only thing that may have happened was car on my right merging . Do I go in the garage? Is this a safety something? Lost my confidence and only had my car a month! Supposed to be doing a 400 mile round trip this weekend🤔
Describes it perfectly. Scary experience though and nothing was close in front at all. I did reach for the manual in my glove box but wasn't sure what I was looking for. Thanks for this
I have found the front assist to be a bit flaky if the light conditions are 'wrong'.
For instance if driving along a tree lined road in low sun, the flashing light/dark seems to send it a bit batty and make it oversensitive, causing FA activate when not really necessary.
OTOH, on one occasion it has stopped me from running in to the back of someone, so it's probably useful.
Just be aware it may go off when an experienced driver would perceive no particular danger.
Also, be very aware if driving overseas (on the right). One week after getting my Arona, I was in France, going quite fast in the outside (left) lane of an autoroute. As I was about to overtake some slower moving lorries, my ACC jammed the brakes on, apparently fearing that I was about to collide with merging traffic. As the average French driver is usually about 6ft from your back bumper, this caused quite a lot of skidding, swerving and hooting behind me. On my return, I queried this with the Seat dealer who said it was quite normal, as the initial ACC set up defaulted to driving in the UK. When this happens, overseas, it is necessary to override the ACC by pressing the accelerator. After a couple of times, the ACC would 'learn' that it was in Europe.
I then had to do the reverse when I got back to Dover!
When explained, it seemed quite logical, but it would have been nice to have been forewarned.
