Biggest Arona Niggle

I've had my arona just over 4 weeks now and I'm curious as to what your biggest niggle with the car is. I'm not talking about the lack of a rear passenger light but something really minor that annoys you.

Mine would have to be the amount of water the wing mirrors hold after washing it. I've dried the car, gone around and put everything away, dry around the mirrors again and again, even blown the excess water out but without fail I'll go back to the car an hour later and I'll have a streak of dried water either side ruining my freshly cleaned car.

So what's yours?

For me the Sat Nav, takes you off the the route for no apparent reason and straight back on same spot where it had taken you after it immediately tells you to go left and if you allow it to it normally takes you right right and right or left left and left and then taking you back to the spot it had just taken you off or a mile back down the road to join same route. Also takes you up and over a motorway junction roundabout and back in the same Road and direction you were travelling. Has done that for 4 or 5 roundabouts. Although the red line set out n the screen for your route never changes.
Also the maps have a lot of mistakes such as bends in the road it tells you to turn left or right instead of bare left or bare right or saying nothing so you can just carrying on travelling on the road ahead.
It has been looked out by two different dealers and all settings and GPS settings have been checked but no fix found yet.

I don't notice any wind noise from door mirrors but I do get noise I would describe as more 'road noise' or tyre noise coming from the base of the rear passenger doors.

Yes I do get water sitting in both mirrors and in the rear door and number plate which appears 10 mins after wiping dry with a microfiber cloth.... but I've never had a car that didn't have that problem with to be fair :)
Plug an Android (Samsung) phone in and use Google Maps or Waze. Which are always going to be better than any car manufacturers sat nav

Main niggle - too much tech waiting to go wrong and all ultimately powered by fuel at £1.30 per litre.
Doesn't make sense to an old curmudgeon like me and I'd rather more power went to the wheels (though I do enjoy the radio and media player).
Otherwise a great car.
:?: :!: The tech circuits use VERY LITTLE power indeed. I'm 64 but hopefully not a curmudgeon. I learned to drive in an Austin Cambridge. So, for me, my Arona (and my son's Ateca) go like The Wind, handle far better than old Grand Tourers and are more luxurious than an old Roller. PLUS I'm getting 50mpg overall and often MORE in town! Plus I can get my bike in the back of my 'small SUV'
You remind me of people who don't like children, are rude to workers in the service sector and think that good neighbourly socialism is a disease. Hopefully you're not like that and were just trying to be funny
Neither - just a little self-deprecating.
I don't go around being wilfully nasty to people, but I disagree that the tech uses very little power.
I listened to a documentary on electric cars recently and one user made a point of turning off as much tech as possible because leaving it on reduced his available range quite significantly. You may not see the power draw on a diesel so easily, but it is still there.
The Arona is a fabulous vehicle, but most of that is due to the engine and design, the tech is (for me) largely incidental to its boot capacity and fuel economy.
Having driven tech heavy (for their time) cars in the past, I just know that sooner or later these things break and cost a lot to put right.

Not a big niggle but nonetheless a niggle, when you stop, at lights for example with auto stop/start activated and foot firmly applied to brake, if you move the steering wheel very slightly engine starts up.
I've changed my mind on this "niggle" and actually use it when anticipating lights changing or traffic moving off, just twitch the wheel and engine restarts ready to move off.

My issues with my Seat Arona FR Business Intense DSG7 Full LED is changing the interior lights, trunk light, rear indicators and reverselight to LED, still have to change the foglights to LED before it's a full led version.
Second thing is that the engine is 95BHP or 115BHP , Why not add a few BHP for the top version ? next Monday it's getting it's chip tuned 130BHP (+15) and 280 Nm Torque (+40)
3rd thing the light in the dashboard is missing... Why in a € 31000 euro car ?

Other than this... I love the FR Business Intense , very complete, and still quite a rare car. you won't find an other one around the corner

Is this the superchip bluefin?
After you've had it up and running for a while I , and no doubt a few others would be keen to read a revue on it,,,thanks

Which is the light
"3rd thing the light in the dashboard is missing... Why in a € 31000 euro car ?" do you mean the glove box ?

#34 ·
I want a light in the 'glovebox compartment' too much to ask for ?

And yes I will keep you informed how the Arona will handle with +15BHP and +40 Nm torque extra
In 4 weeks time I go to Geneva with a trailer (carrying 2 motorbikes) can't wait.
For what I know, they replace the software in the motormanagement, no piggybag module

It's the major niggles that annoy me, with wind noise from the wing mirrors being the biggest culprit. I have no minor niggles!
What on earth friggin speed are YOU doing!
Prefer not to say on a public forum ! Just trying to see if the official top speed was achievable - ran out of road before finding out!
I have a solution: remove the mirrors - they are no use to you when you're going faster than everyone else. This will also reduce wind resistance, enabling you to go even faster

Only one issue I've found so far is after its rained when I open the door and rain flows off the pillars above the doors it hits the seats, bit of a design fault with the rain channels on the roof line.

Other than that all good!

LOL similar thing happened to me the other day.
Sunshine and showers, after it stopped raining I opened the window to get some cool air and water cascaded in. #designflaw :D

Well... having rained for the last two days since picking up the Arona, I'll agree that this is a bit of a pain in the derriere! The boot also suffers from this same niggle. Other than that (at this early juncture) I'm happy with the car.

Yep. I get this too. It sometimes coincides with trip counter resetting to zero.
Clock an hour behind again today. Trip counter didn't reset, so I'm still looking for the cause!
Which band is your radio on, FM or DAB, if it is getting clock time from one of these then you must have a rogue radio station that is transmitting a GMT time code and not BST. Might not even be what you are listening to, as there is a secondary source for traffic info etc.

Easiest to just change clock to manual in infotainment until clocks go back

My wife managed to alter both clock and reset trip once, not being as familiar with car had accidentally changed radio band to Medium wave, so I suspect this problem is linked to radio, but never happened since, but I never normally change radio band.

Thanks Snowdaddy. The radio is on DAB, normally BBC stations. I have been listening to a couple of commercial stations recently, so I'll see if that could be a factor.

My seat navigation often suggests I turn left go around the bollard then return back to the road I was on. I hope when they fix it we all get it FOCI was quoted £200 for an upgrade which may be just the same. Im thinking of buying a TomTom at half the price.

It is a fault that Seat are aware of. Dealers put their hands over their eyes and say 'never heard of that'.
I made a bit of a fuss and the dealer installed the previous version on SD card. It now doesn't take me off and bring me back on again, although, the roads are 3 - 4 years out of date. They have also confirmed that they will update FOC as soon as the latest version is released.

This doesn't happen for me even trying to make it happen! In fact the steering locks. Which can be disconcerting at first, especially if you're still rolling very slightly (1-2 mph) but you quickly get used to this

Update: yes, you can start up by turning the steering wheel .... which is fine by me. My question is; why are you attempting to steer when the vehicle is stationary as this will scrub the tyres?
My Wife does this, drives me nuts!!
