Biggest Arona Niggle

I've had my arona just over 4 weeks now and I'm curious as to what your biggest niggle with the car is. I'm not talking about the lack of a rear passenger light but something really minor that annoys you.

Mine would have to be the amount of water the wing mirrors hold after washing it. I've dried the car, gone around and put everything away, dry around the mirrors again and again, even blown the excess water out but without fail I'll go back to the car an hour later and I'll have a streak of dried water either side ruining my freshly cleaned car.

So what's yours?

Overall, I am happy with my Xlux but my biggest niggle is I think it is overpriced for what it is.

My previous car was a Skoda Octavia SE L DSG 1.4 petrol TSI.

Obviously not possible to compare with the Seat Arona, but I am left feeling the Arona has not quite lived up to the press praise heaped upon it.

There were several reasons I was drawn to the Arona. The primary reason as a disabled pensioner was ease of getting in and out. Full marks on that one.

Second reason was to downsize.
Full marks (but with some regrets.) on that one too.

Then there was the promise of comfort protection on our UK potholed roads.
As the Octavia is a Limo and the Arona is not, The Skoda wins out on that one.

Fuel economy was another of my considerations as whilst I could get almost 60 mpg on a run in the Skoda, it was quite thirsty on short shopping trips.

So far the Arona wins out on about town driving, I shall be doing a long run soon to see how well that compares too.

Another niggle with the Arona which was absent in the Octavia is the steep rear to front rake of the front seats and the lack of adjustable lumber support.

Because the Arona Seats are set higher, this leads to the front edge contact under your legs, eventually causing discomfort through restriction of blood circulation to your legs.

Rather oddly, but we are not comparing like with like here, the Octavia on rough roads used to jostle through its length from front to rear.

Whereas the Arona has quite a violent tendency to rock side to side on rough roads. (perhaps I drive it too fast 😉)

Ironically, the Arona cost 2k more than I paid for my Mark 3 16 plate Octavia, so my expectations were high.

Given a second chance, I should have settled on the SE Technology as in my opinion the £4k+ price difference is simply not worth it, and 17" wheels instead of the enforced 18" on the Xlux probably give an improved ride.

I sit with the drivers seat well forward finding this the most comfortable but my niggle is my knee keeps catching the light switch when getting out of the vehicle moving it from the auto position where I prefer to leave it. It's only a small thing I know but I'm forever forgetting to check where it's positioned and driving off with headlights blazing!
It's not a niggle but I've only just discovered that there is only one reversing light. It looks like there should be two of them. I felt a bit of a clod when I asked the Seat garage to change the bulb!

Had the car 4 weeks but only just started using it daily, got in the car to go to work, went to put my nice insulated mug in the cup holder... it doesn't fit, the cup holders are tiny.
But this is the smallest niggle ever, apart from that I love it

The satnav is the biggest niggle for me. I doesn't show live traffic and can't change routes if there is traffic ahead. I have the digital cockpit and love seeing the map in my dashboard, but no longer use it as Google maps gives me live traffic, and what is most annoying is that I can't display Google maps in the live cockpit.

If would have been nice to be able to use android auto or apple car play without requiring it to be plugged in via USB. I have a wireless charging mat in the car but it's effectively useless as I need to plug my phone in to get full link and the above mentioned Google maps.

Other than that the car is stunning to drive and the niggles are all over come by plugging a USB lead in all the time, it's just frustrating that's all.

The lack of live traffic and using a cable for Apple Car Play etc. is pretty standard in most cars isn't it? You will do well to find a car with a built in sat nav system that rivals Google Maps.

?? What do you mean "I doesn't show live traffic and can't change routes if there is traffic ahead "

Mine does.
Travelling through Germany, near Frankfurt am Main last Monday, it started to look for alternative routes when there was a trafficjam of 3 km or more....
It did so 30 km before we reached the tail of the traficjam... the system corrected itself 3 times (recalculated) and send us into the shorter traficjam anyway, because it was the shortest delay .

In Holland I got a warning of a Ghostrider... even when the navigation was not in use , Big warning on the screen....
Even urgent trafic info or speedcams are live.... also when you are listening to DAB radio or music from your SD / CD

Perhaps mine is setup wrong or I am using it wrongly then, I hope so as I'd much prefer to use the satnav in-built in the car.

Perhaps the version I have installed in the UK isn't as fully functional as the version you are using, the only way I appear to be able to get the traffic on the car is if I come out of the Navigation altogether and go to the options screen which then has traffic, which will then search for traffic notifcations on my route.

I paid low £19k a month later for X Lux DSG, Perhaps wasn't such a great deal that I got (nearly £4K off) although DSG is about £1k extra

Same car is now £5k more list price (although does now have digital dash and heated front seats)

Errr.. Retail price for Xcellence Lux DSG at 2017 launch was £22,880.
Errr.. I got a great deal , my point was that they(Aronas) have increased dramatically
You just said 'the price', so I assumed you meant list price. So, yes, looks like you got a decent deal on your Xcellence, nearly £3k off.

The list price for your model has increased by just over £800 since you bought yours.

re paulhic. If you have the top spec Excellence lux like me their is no grab handles above the doors because it has cushion airbags in that top section between the door and the roof lining where the grab handles would be.
My previous Audi had grab handles and side airbags so it must be possible to accommodate both. Just like the lack of rear seat lights and illuminated vanity mirror, etc. it's probably more about cost saving. We pays our money and takes our choice!

My biggest niggle is that I always seem to feel a breeze on my right knee when I'm driving. Even when I only have the upper vents on and point them away from me. Drives me mad sometimes (I have the manual aircon).
Do the vents produce a decent flow ? could be a duct has come adrift around the steering column...

I can't say I have noticed a problem with the airflow from the vents. Thanks for the tip though. I'll have a look at the steering column.
