Hello all,

We've just ordered our Arona and received an order number. Pretty sure we can't check the progress online as you can with VW, so will have to rely on the dealer to communicate with us.

We got a cracking deal on a 1.6 TDI SE Tech Lux, so enough bells and whistles and an engine with decent enough pull. I drove the 90bhp 1.0l and was very disappointed with the pull power from start/stop. The deal we were offered on the diesel made it an easy choice.

Hopefully the car will arrive by the end of October :)

Looking forward to sharing tips and experiences with you all.

Cheers,
Rob

Welcome to the forum

The 1.6 TDI SE Tech Lux (manual) is one of the models with Fast Track so unless you have picked a colour combination that is out of stock, should be delivered within 2 weeks. Did you get the 0% that was available with this spec ?

https://www.seat.co.uk/offers/fast-track/new-arona.html

The big delays have been on all DSG models, all FR, and Xcelence spec.
Epic delays of 6 months plus for FR Sport and Xcelence Lux have been reported

Hi Snowdaddy,

2 weeks would be awesome, but we ordered through a lease company and weren't offered this.
Just checked that link, but the Arona is not listed. Maybe they have sold too many ;-)

6 months delay is just crazy, I would not wait that long

Same model as me. Your wait will be worth it. Fabulous car. I'm thinking of selling the house and moving into the car! The mpg on M-ways isn't as good as I expected (50 mpg at 70 mph) but the town mpg is unbelievably good. Tonight I checked and I got 60 mpg going to the gym (2 miles each way) !!!!!

Hi BlueBoy68,

That is incredible milage around town! Glad you're loving it, can't wait to have a drive in mine :)
I read some complaints about the hand brake not working properly, not holding a car on the slope. Have you found this as well?

I am getting 58-60mpg on the motorway as soon as I got over 1000 miles at 2000 now and mpg has improved slightly again can see 61-62 on my 90 mile monthly trip at a steady 70 - 75mph via ACC.

Seems to be an issue with drum brake equipped cars SE Lux is disk rear, so no similar issues - had none on mine :D

Thanks for confirming. I am not a fan of drum brakes, but didn't realise this was even something to consider in 2018 anymore when buying a car. Very glad we have disk brakes all around!

Brill! Yep drum brakes still appear on lower powered models from quite a few marques, I assume cost and performance grounds :?:

Arona has drums on just the 95 petrol and TDi which are engines only available on the SE and SE Tech in the UK.

Hi Cyberbob,

That's just crazy! Giving people 'Front Assist' and other expensive safety features, but save money on brakes...in my book good brakes are really quite essential. Anyway, I'm just happy that I don't have to worry about it

Yep, I have an SE Lux easy to see as mine has rear brake calipers if in doubt spec wise, I always check out real cars on autotrader - not like the SEAT website to be wrong

Picked up my wifes FR Sport 1.6 TDI in red with black roof. It's awesome, already getting nearly 60 mpg after 500 miles. Drives lovely, only snag was the Engine Management light came on due to a faulty connector on glow plug number 1 wiring on the engine management system.

Hi R1ch4rdK,

Glad you're enjoying the car. That warning light would freak me out on a new car. Glad it wasn't anything major. Fuel consumption sounds good. What are you getting around town?

Finally our new car has arrived! Haven't had much chance to drive it. So far, impressed with the handing off the car. The engine feels like it's needs some time to loosen up, it's pretty decent already.

The gadgets all seem to work and the sat nav didn't send me on a weird and wonderful route as I was dreading after reading the comments here.

Looking forward to seeing the other Aronas around.

Sorry to hear that Mickyg2004. Which model did you order? The waiting times quoted by dealerships and lease companies are indicative... I rang Seat with my order number and got my updates that way
