I've just put in an order for an FR Sport as I wanted the 1.5 engine, however a big downside for me is the mediocre 6 speaker sound system that comes as standard. I know a couple of the "First Edition" models came with 7 speaker Beats sound system with an additional amplifier.

So to my question: Does anyone have any info about upgrading the stock 6 sound speaker system? Like the Beats system on the First Editions I'd be looking to add a subwoofer, possibly upgrade the stock speakers, and add a power amplifier.

I've ordered a spare wheel with my car so I was looking to add this subwoofer: https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/ts-wx610a as I know the Beats sub is mounted inside the spare wheel, and then maybe a class D amp like this: https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/gm-d1004. The only issue is I have no idea how it would be wired up to the Arona' s touch screen system, and would the software need to be altered too?

Thanks for any help and advice!

I know vw do a system you can buy. Amazon also list it as well. There's a couple of you tube videos showing the system being installed in a polo.

The link above goes to this. By the looks of it it all plugs into the original loom. Noncutting of wires which can only be good for the warranty although I'm not sure whether seat would warrant this system or not although it's vw approved. Might be worth an ask.

Thanks for the info Dolphin. I've had a look neither of those options would be good for me. I need as much boot space as possible so was looking for something to mount inside the spare wheel (like the Pioneer one) and then the electronics behind the dash.

Good point on cutting wires and warranty though. I've had a look and you can get speaker wire extenders with factory clips on one end and bare wire on the other.

Hi papanax, I got a quote from John Kleis audio in Reading of around £1250. That's was for an Eton spare wheel subwoofer, Hertz component speakers in the front and coaxial speakers in the rear, a Hertz class A/B amplifier, sound proofing in the boot/wheel well and the front and rear doors, cabling, and installation.

Bear in mind that those are top end components, the Eton subwoofer on its own is £420. I asked about installation cost for the Pioneer subwoofer I mentioned in my first post and was quoted around £235 + the cost of the subwoofer.

Given those prices I think I'll be leaving my sound system alone for a while. I'm sure other places will do fitting cheaper but I know John Kleis are some of the best I'm the business and they don't do anything by half!

Does anyone know why we in the UK haven't got the option of upgrading to the Beats Audio system? I would have thought that the top spec models would have that (and heated seats for that matter) as an option at the very least.

I know that the First Edition models had both the upgraded stereo and heated seats. Why were they dropped? My dealer couldn't answer the question.

It's even more annoying that all the marketing material photos have both the Beats audio and heated seats in them. Curious!
