Hi.
My Arona 1.0 tsi 85 kw from 2019 is making a medium pitch clacking sound that reverberates through the steering wheel if I drive it on very bad gravel roads, specially if they have the "washingboard effect".
Also, if I reverse it with from some parking space or similar and it has to descent some sort of 1 inch tall sidewalk with the wheels turned, it makes that same metalic clacking once the wheel hits the lower level.
I got under it and tried to find any culprit for the noise and discovered that the right side cv joint makes a noise if I grab the shaft and move it longitudinally back and forth. It has a play of a few millimeters. The short one at the left side doesn`t move. Aparently thats the only source of noise since nothing else has any play neither in suspension nor steering assembly.
Is this normal and happens to your cars too? Or could be some fault?

CV joint will have play... I'd be more suspicious of the one without.
Sounds more like a ball joint somewhere...maybe a broken spring.
