Yes... although you can have the lighter socket live permanently by moving a fuse.
I presume the lighter is on the same circuit as the USB socket (which I've used) in which case its live when you open the doors, and goes off a minute or so after lock up... so perfect for a dashcam IMHO.

I have a Thinkware F770 which also records video when the car is unattended. For this it also needs a permanent live feed. The problem is that with a car with keyless entry, switched live feeds automatically become live as soon as you enter the car, so I can't use a multimeter to find a permanent live feed.

Can anyone advise if they've found a permanent live fuse position and if so, which one it is?

The lights would be live, as would the window motors... Myself, I'd trip the door latch with a screwdriver - make the car think the door is closed...and probe away !
