The Arona is confirmed for launch in December 2017. It follows the recently launched Ateca SUV and an all-new Ibiza, which is due in July, that's according to Seat UK boss: Seat UK director Richard Harrison.

The first announcement of the car's expected market debut came at the Paris motor show, but this latest confirmation came at a Seat event in London today.

Built to rival the likes of Nissan's Juke and Renault's Captur, the Arona will be built on the same A0 platform as the forthcoming new Ibiza, using the VW Group's modular MQB architecture. Expect styling reminiscent of the Ateca, and more space inside for passengers than the Ibiza thanks to a higher roofline.

The Arona will expected to arrive in the UK in December 2017 after a debut at the Frankfurt motor show.
