Just went to take out new insurance on my Sear Arona FR with General Accident and they wanted me to accept a statement that there was a Thatcham device fitted for theft or attempted theft. (see attached file) First time I have come across this, so is the factory fitted alarm a Thatcham device? I hope so.
I've sent an email off to General Accident, but wonder if anyone knows on here.

They are likely referring to the immobiliser rather than alarm system, as a lot of new cars don't have alarms.

I would be very surprised if the immobiliser in the Arona isn't Thatcham approved. They usually are.

Hopefully someone else on here can confirm for sure.

Thatcham produce a list and part 1 shows the Arona FR on page 18
covers R (remote) T (transponder) S (software lock) U (ultrasonic) L (central locking)
Guessing (but not sure) if this is what your insurance company is checking

However note that SE, SE tech appear on page 29 as not fitted with alarms as standard
