Rearview camera and mirror change

Post by MbuitA » Sat Feb 08, 2020 4:28 pm

Hello everybody, I'm a new owner of a Arona 1.0 TSI Style with DSG 7 speed and ik like it. (It's a original Belgium car, not Netherlands were I live)
The car has the 8 inch nav system but doesn't have a rear viewing camera. Can i install the camera on the standard radio ?

Also I want the mirror to switch down when I'm putting it in reverse, can this be set true Vagcom VCDS ? My Seat Leon ST had this am used to it now :)

My radio type is: 5F0035858C and 6PO919866AF

Thanks for the replys.

Where do you live in Holland ?
When near Hoek van Holland , there is a guy Zennique who has a Arona too, just like me
I think he knows if the mirrors can tilt down at reverse
you have to find him @ https://www.seat-online.nl/forum.php

Thanks for your reply, thought you were Dutch.
I'm living on the other side of the country, Almelo :D

For how long long do you have de car chip tuned and by whom? I'm considering to do this as well when it doesn't cause any problems. I have the 115hp version.

The cabel for the camera didn't need to go in the back of the radio but in the CD player. The CD player was simple te remove, 2 plastic cabel binders in de player wholes at the underside corners. And done.

Last thing to do is connect the camera to the reversing light and programm the radio with vcds to handle the camera feed.

I have the camera installed but i wasn't quite sure how you fed the cabling to the CD player? Did you go through the roof liner? Did you also take the ground wire with you and ground it by CD player?

Could you share how you fed the cabling and where you got power and ground from? thanks

The video cable went from the trunk to the cd player, I put the cable beneath the back seat and then put it next to the original cable's at the door side's. To make it simple you can shuff it a bit under the plastic at the door sides.

Connect the 2 wires in the blue connector whole 6 and 12. The camera power connects to the reverse light and the ground connected to the original ground location in the trunk. That's it.
