Main dealer service or not?

My Arona Excellence Lux is coming up to 2 years old but only done around 5500 miles. It had its first service a year ago at the main dealer. Second service cost seems pretty steep at around £319 whereas local independent garage is quoting around £160.

What's the general consensus - main dealer or not?

Well £300+ sounds a lot to me for servicing a car with a total 5500 miles. I have a '69 Lux (TSi) so also getting towards 2 years old and its booked in at my local Bristol Street SEAT in June for a "£143 10,000mile" service. I've only done ~6k this year due to lockdowns and 13k total mileage. I'm using main dealer while the car is under warranty but fully plan to go back to my local specialist garage after 3 yrs because I trust their work.
I'm just wondering what parts are they really going to change on a car with only 5500miles on the clock? An oil change and fluid top ups?

Thanks. I've been in touch with my local Seat dealer and rechecked the price as I had only looked at the website before. The £319 price is for the major 2 year service on cars over 3 years old. I've been told the price for the 2nd annual service is £239 and that includes "free" Seat Assistance for another year. As the local garage was quoting £160 then I would have added on Aviva Breakdown cover at £70 I'm happy to take it back to the dealer for that difference and ensure the warranty has no problems.

I just replaced oil . oil filter. sump plug. checked everything else. reset service indicator. total cost. £30.00 all genuine parts from ebay. avoid main dealers who want £300 for a oil change and want the car all day. 2020 SE TECH.
That's fine and good if you're capable of doing that yourself but I'm not so I have to pay to get it done. I've booked a waiting appointment time and told around 1.5 hours for the service which is ok. If weather is good I'll go and take a walk whilst I wait.

I too would keep it with main dealer whilst in warranty

Also worth asking if there are any service campaigns (fixes of troublesome items) or recalls on your car, because these will be done free (but probably won't be done if you don't ask)

The free breakdown cover is useful add on (not that I have ever needed it yet)

Mine is due 3rd year (will be about 27k miles) in 2 months, so will get MOT done (will be post dated automatically to 3rd birthday). Doesn't look like I need any warranty work, but would have got that done too at same time in 36th month

Mine had its first service last month as on variable servicing so either 2 year or 24k (might be 20k) miles but only done 16k.

It's leased but I can get it serviced anywhere (not DIY option) and I balanced up the dealer/local garage options. I needed to get a years breakdown cover for the 3rd year and as above this is included with the 2 years service cost at the main dealer plus I understand theyre a bit more flexible with warranty claims if the cars been to a main dealer for servicing.

Went for main dealer which paid off even more as they replaced the injectors under a recall wouldn't have been done at a local garage.

The car goes back in under a year (hopefully before it's first MOT is due to dodge the cost) but found it to be a great car.
