To Change to LED bulbs you first have to remove the grills. To do this modify a screwdriver by heating up the end and bend through 90' you will also need plastic trim removal tools ( these can be found on E bay) see picture.

Next insert the trim removal tools as shown in picture

Then using the modified screwdriver into the slot in the grill (angle upwards) then pull outwards, It may take a good tug. This should remove the grill. Remove the 3 T25 screws and remove the fog light unit, undo the cable then turn bulb to remove.
The replacement bulb is a HB4 9006. I used Nighteye bulbs but they do need a canbus error decoder to stop getting error on dashboard.

Don't like the view of this... I know the paintwork is not so strong as it was 20 years ago.
I've got the scratches to proof it.

Forget the removal from the front, did it two times now , from the rear. works perfect.
try to find the Led with the most lumens (in canbus)

First I placed the black plastic ones... vertical orientated LEDS
Later I found the silver metal ones, horizontal LEDS
It makes no difference how they are orientated, the light beam is the same.
But I like the metal ones more.

I removed the torx screws from inside the wheel arch and along the bottom of the bumper . Much easier snd no risk of damaging the fog grill surround

Yes, changed the bulbs in the foglamps in LED.
Even if you buy canbus proof leds, you will get an error. canbus test is done when there is no power on the bulbs... if a little current can travel through the bulb it is OK, no error
BUT... there is a second test, normally the bulb is 12volts / 55Watt = 4,6 Amperes now you are going to replace the bulb by LED.... That's about 5 watts = almost 0,5 Amp.
Your electronic detects a difference of 4 Amp per bulb... and gives a fault on the dash.

With vagcom or VCDS you can change the parameters of the foglamps to LED... fault is gone, and switch on the cornering function of the foglights while you're programming

fitting of the LED : remove some screws in the wheeltubs, some under the bumper, and you can wiggle your arm between the tub and fender, change the bulb from behind (HB4 fitting)
I have the silver version, Black did work OK, but I didn't like the black in the foglamp , and it's only 10 euro/set

yes... it looks like Sh*t, yellowish foglamps, and full led headlights
