New Arona FR Sport ordered on PCP - Good Deal??

Post by martinto8 » Fri Sep 13, 2019 7:23 pm

Hi Everyone

Just found this forum as part of research into an Arona and now ordered an FR sport for the wife.

The dealer has been pretty good but after leaving a deposit forget to give me the agreed details on the PCP deal. Then there was 4 iterations of it where there was a balance of errors eg Wrong model, wrong mileage and monthly payment etc.

I am at this iteration and wondering if I am being shafted. What your thoughts on this current deal? I am unsure of what this charge is highlighted which I will question with them

I just can get my head round the figures!

Hmm ok I think its down to hosting on Dropbox

Basically its £211 per/month for 48months with a 5.5K deposit (includes deposit contribution) on an FR Sport 1.0 DSG

Not sure it was that good I picked mine up last week, including the £149 service package. ( It is a MY20 spec car)
I agreed the previous week to £225 per month for 48 months with 2600 total deposit and px allowance for 7K miles pa.

I had a choice of 4 colours they had in stock, or being delivered shortly.

I am not sure of your annual mileage but it doesn’t make too much difference for a few thousand extra a year.

If I assumed my deal, but at £230 a month, that would be better by about £2000 (Difference in deposits minus 47 by 19)

Did you get the £1000 extra downloadable voucher included in the deal?

Sorry, just noticed yours is a DSG so probably an £800 to £1000 difference?

To be more specific:

10k annual miles
£2.5k deposit contribution (includes £1k voucher)
£3k deposit myself
Interest 6.5%

£210/month payments 48 month term

Its really confusing working out whether the value of deal is good or not. The dealership sent me 3 quotes that had something incorrect about them. The GMFV seemed to be the variable they can fiddle about with

As an ex salesman paid to sell cars on pcp's and having bought cars using pcp I can say the following .
Use a pcp if you plan to stay with the brand and change regularly

Use a pcp if you drive average or less miles

But think .what is the future value and what is the dep?

What is the total amount payable?

You can always make your own pcp by borrowing on hp over a longer term but settling early .The advantage is that the deal is not mileage related .Disadvantage? No guaranteed future value.

Im contract hiring my new arona.
£700 down £235 x 36
Wont own the car. Don't care .Who wants to own a depreciating asset?

Just re.remember you buy a car .You're out of pocket .just depends how much .
