Power steering fail after crash

Post by yegith » Sat Nov 30, 2019 11:30 pm

Hi all

New seat arona. 1.5tsi fr. Just 8days old and sadly whilst parked some idiot manages to crash into me. Rear end damage mostly. However when I started the car to drive it power steering was not working. Red dash light was on.

Anyone has any idea if damage is severe? Or should I have it written off already and order a new one? 🙁🙁🙁🙁

Have no idea but her car was totalled whilst I was parked and was called after it happened ☹️☹️

I thought the damage is mostly cosmetic and easy fix. Im worries about the steering failure tho :(

Maybe someone has experience?

It was obviously a serious impact, perhaps it has dislodged a sensor or some wiring, do you have any other warning lights?

Have you looked under the bonnet ? could be that the fluid reservoir has popped off... but my money is that the brake line to that wheel is severed... a loss of pressure in any circuit would trigger a fault in the ecu.

Got the repair job card from the surveyor.

The impact has altered the alignment of the wheels and hence why it failed

Thank God for full insurance - I mean duh it’s new....

I waited 9mths for this car. Drove and enjoyed it for 7days. And now will be out of action for at least 2-3months

At least they will be replacing everything including shocks and subframe as a precaution.

Only positive thing right now - At least seems that these cars are structurally a beast...

Wish the other driver wasn’t on her phone....she would have never lost control of her car on a dry straight narrow road....

:(

Bit of positive news... but must have took the shine off it ?
Plus it'll be a mark on your insurance :(

Hope you get her back soon.
