Reverse and boot lamp replacement help?

Post by BigFatPaulie » Wed Jan 08, 2020 3:51 pm

Managed to get the access flap from the boot lid, and the boot lamp module... but how the heck do the actual bulbs come out ?
Been tugging and twisting, but can't get at the actual bulbs

Help please ?

click click click at the sides of the module and that has an connector, you could remove that too, gives a little more room.
when this tiny module is out... replace the bulb, and try to refit everything.
It toke me 20 minutes to get the alignment correct and click it back into place.

so my advice : wait until spring... more light and a higher temperature

Bootlight removal : put something between the short side of the lens and carpeting ,
It should give a little room and pop out.
If not... try the other side. remove the connector.
Then remove the metal heatshield, now you can reach the bulb itself, replace the T10 bulb, using a little screwdriver.
When you replace the bulb by LED... test it first , no light ? then turn the bulb 180 degrees (reverse polarity)
Put the whole light unit back in the boot-liner

Thanks for the info Lampie.. Nice and sunny today, so had another look.
The boot light came out.. but still cannot move the reversing lamp :-(
The connector has a red part (assume this is the latch to hold in the connector)
Tugged and pressed everything in there.... AAAARRGGH

Anyone got a picture please ?

You can disconnect the connector by pulling the red tab out which then allows you to pinch and pull the connector out

Then to remove the unit holding the reverse bulb there is 2 tabs you need to press out. 1 is quite obvious but the other is next to where you pulled the connector out and was a bit of a pig to unlatch

Not sure if this is what you are looking to detach

This connector removal baffled me for a while too but, just as martinto8 correctly says, pull the red locking tab outwards which will allow you to also pull the actual connector out. Most of the Seat electrical connectors seem to use the same locking technique.
