Windscreen woes

Post by Tagsantite » Thu Aug 02, 2018 7:51 am

Driving home the other day after collecting the new car a passing vehicle threw up a bit of grit. I heard it twang on the screen. When I got home I found that it had just caught the very edge of the screen. Yesterday got up to find a 10" crack right across the drivers eye line.
Phoned Autoglass this morning to be informed that there are no replacement screens in stock in the UK.
Have any other forum members needed a new screen? Autoglass fit non Seat generic ones, does anyone know if there are genuine ones available through the usual Seat supply system?

Get on to SEAT Ensure.
They should be able to help and advise.
Do not go near Autoglass as they took 6 tries to replace windscreen in my Focus without it leaking or causing damage.
Good luck

My insurer says I must use Autoglass, unless I want to bear the whole replacement cost myself.

I would have thought Autoglass must face this situation every day with new and rare models. They must have a process for getting stock.

As an aside a month ago my son in laws new Kona had its windscreen damaged in transit to the dealers it took them about a week to get and fit an OEM one.

Sorry, but I would stand my ground.
I’m with More Than Insurance and although they have their “preferred” repairers, they will still allow you to go to repairer of your choice if you stand your ground and insist.
I wouldn’t let Autoglass near a car never mind a brand new one.
Good luck.

Autoglass are still messing me about.
Spoke to LV, my present insurers, who said that I could use National Windscreens.
Has anyone any experience of them, either good or bad?
Many thanks
