MPG on Display

Post by trev3 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:07 am

I posted in an earlier thread about the "long term" mpg figures resetting after a certain mileage which mine did after about 2000 miles.
However all of the figures relating to the cars performance eg cumulative mph, mpg, time elapsed, etc are now resetting at least once a week.
It happens when I first start in the morning.

I wonder if the starter motor is reducing the battery voltage to a point that is too low for the display.
Any thoughts?

Hi @Trev3,

I would expect this data to be held in the ECU not in the actual display. If you have a voltage dip that cause these stats to be reset, you would notice issues with starting as this consumes way more energy.

I recommend visiting the dealer and have them read out the ECU fault codes and get tour battery checked to get to the root of the issue.

Carried out a bit more investigation.
First start of the day Switch on ignition and the display comes on normally and continues OK after engine is started. Engage reverse to go out of garage and the display registers the rear sensors, start going forward and the display has reset all the information .

Trev3,
Have you accidentally reset the MFD to ‘from departure’ ? See page 37 of the on line manual.

My clock reverted to GMT, today, and mpg back to zero, again!

The main screen will give you more driving data then the centre info screen.

settings- vehicle- swap view to driving data
Using the next and previous button this will switch between Long term data, since refuelling and since start.
The pre ignition / start button needs to on to view by the way

Yes I understand the 3 different mpg figures, when it malfunctions nearly every cold start all 3 revert to zero as well as elapsed time, mileage covered and average mph.
