Forward collision system coming on without warning

I’m sure this thread has been covered before but not finding what I’m looking for - anyways, earlier today, driving my Arona FR in town area at speed of around 25mph when suddenly, without any warning, the central dash area lit up and the vehicle performed a full emergency stop without me doing anything! There was nothing in front of me and nothing passed in front of the vehicle either - fortunately there was nothing behind me but I hate to think what might have happened if a motorcycle or any other vehicle for that matter were close behind! The vehicle cut out after braking. The only other issue I’ve had (2020 with 16,000miles) is the stop/start system cutting out periodically when going slow, especially over speed bumps. I took my car to the local Seat dealer straight away and was given a demonstrator for now. Is this a common issue, it certainly doesn’t give me any confidence in the vehicle for fear of it happening again! Technology is fine but definitely not at the expense of safety!!

There is usually something it sees, even if it something silly like a crisp packet blowing in the wind. In the Infotainment you can adjust the sensitivity level, there have been earlier threads where most people say the high sensitivity causes too many false brake applications, I have set mine to medium and works as I would expect.

Never had it come to a complete stop, on mine when I react and hit the brake it seems to give control back to me, so if something pulls off to side and road clear again then I just resume

Regarding start-stop, I have found the same, cuts out too early, whilst still moving at about 3mph, so hopeless when in a traffic queue approaching a junction and creeping forward. Nowadays I don’t use it, just hit the A button to turn it off straight after hitting start button. The fuel savings from not idling for few seconds seem to be minuscule.

The sudden braking thing just happened to me a few minutes ago, hence me finding this post. It really shook me up as there was nothing in the road and the car suddenly braked. I'm glad, sort of, to see that it has happened to others. I had just washed the car and wondered whether that was linked. I will look to desensitise the assist function.

Not had any issues with mine, set to Medium with the steering correction thing turned off as I find it mildly disconcerting.

Auto Stop/Start only works in certain conditions, so for example if it's cold, it won't function as stopping the engine could induce misting up. The owners manual lists all the conditions it might not work in.
I've owned 200k+ mile cars with Stop/Start and was still going strong on its first starter motor, things like starter motors and alternators last a lot longer these days.

We too have had our 69 reg Arona do a sudden crash stop for no reason. Happened from about 25mph on a deserted road, fortunately, as anything behind would have hit us. Two of us in the front and certain there was nothing of danger to trigger this. Driver unable to prevent full stop, then stalled.
Took to dealer but staggeringly the car apparently doesn’t retain any error/use codes for such triggering of the emergency systems. No fault found. Worried that may recur when cars behind.
Mention above of adjusting sensitivity, but we have not found any such setting. Any hints where might find that?
Can manually switch off entirely - but takes some time going through the menus, and resets to default on each time restart car, so not practical to do every trip.

It should stay with the choices you make (except things like gear mode)

To change sensitivity, on infotainment go into Car, settings, then get long list and have to scroll. I forget exactly where but from memory it is assistance systems or convenience or safety systems. Click on it and there are tick boxes where can change to medium sensitivity. Then click back at top of screen (if you just abandon the screen and turn off car it might not save it, haven't tried that)
