Stop/start Function

On previous cars (Audi A3 mainly) I've always used the stop/start function, since owning the Arona it has always been switched off. Not sure whether I prefer it switched on or off.
Has anyone any evidence that there is a fuel saving to be had using function? if so would appreciate your comments.
BTW I only found out how easy to switch it on/off by mistake.

I hadn't realised it reverts to 'on' when the ignition is turned on. All I can say it is a very seamless transition when to resume to drive.
So thanks Number6 for education lesson. On reflection it's probably a difficult job to permanently switch off.
So I'm happy to things as is and read the manual before asking silly questions.:unsure:

Easy to switch off permanently using either vcds or obdeleven. I just push the button every time I start the car so I can activate it if I know I'll be stationary for a while.

Until a few years ago you used to be able to code the function to remember the last setting but the vw group has removed that option.
